Board of Directors
Letter From the Board Chair

Dear Chamber Members,
A new year has a way of inviting reflection—and clarity. As your Board Chair, I want to share how your Chamber is stepping into 2026 with intention, optimism, and a renewed sense of purpose.
Recently, our executive team spent time revisiting two simple but powerful questions: Why does the Chamber exist? And what does success really look like? As it turns out, our answers sound a lot like New Year’s resolutions.
Our “Why” Resolution:
We exist because we love Tyler.
Not just the place—but the people. Tyler’s warmth, approachability, pride, and sense of community are what make it special. Those qualities are what attract new families, new businesses, and new ideas—and what keep people here. Our work as a Chamber is about protecting and strengthening that spirit while helping Tyler grow thoughtfully, responsibly, and with vision.
Our Definition of Success—2026 Resolutions:
- Financial Health:
We are committed to disciplined growth—strong revenues, responsible expenses, and long-term sustainability. A healthy Chamber today ensures impact for generations to come. - Staff Health:
Our team is one of our greatest assets. We are investing in their development, leadership, and well-being so they can continue delivering excellence on behalf of our members. - Program Health:
We will continue offering timely, relevant, and high-value programs—focused on education, advocacy, and connection—so every engagement with the Chamber is worth your time. - Committee & Volunteer Health:
We are intentional about identifying, equipping, and encouraging servant leaders—people with heart, work ethic, and expertise—who will shape Tyler’s future.
Simply put success means a Chamber that is financially strong, professionally excellent, strategically relevant, and deeply connected to the community it serves.
Celebrating Leadership & Momentum
I’d also like to highlight two recent luncheons that perfectly reflect this momentum.
Our State of Education luncheon showcased the caliber of leadership shaping Tyler’s future. We are grateful for the vision and collaboration of Dr. Marty Crawford, Dr. Juan Mejia, and Dr. Julie Philley. Their leadership across K–12, community college, and higher education is not only impressive—it is aligned, strategic, and deeply encouraging.
Likewise, our 42nd Economic Outlook featuring Dr Ray Perryman luncheon offered clarity and confidence as we look ahead. Tyler is well-positioned, resilient, and full of opportunity—and that doesn’t happen by accident. It happens because of thoughtful leadership and engaged citizens like you.
As we begin this new year, I’m energized by what lies ahead. Thank you for your trust, your involvement, and your commitment to Tyler. Together, we’re not just setting resolutions—we’re showing up and leaving things better than we found them.
Here’s to a strong, focused, and purpose-filled year ahead.
With gratitude and optimism,
Tom Perkins | 2026 Board Chair
