AUTOMOBILE REGISTRATION
New residents must obtain license plates within 30 days. Proof of liability
insurance, title, registration card, amd property tax payment is required.

DRIVERS LICENSE
New residents have 30 days to obtain a drivers license. Eye tests are
mandatory. If moving within the State, changes of address must be reported
within 30 days. Social Security cards and birth certificates are required
for anyone who has not previously been issued a license. For more information,

VOTING INFORMATION
In order to qualify to register to vote, you must comply with the following
prerequisites:
* You must be a U.S. citizen
* You must be a legal resident of Texas
* You must be registered to vote 30 days prior to an election
* You must be at least 18 years old at the time of the election
GOVERNMENT
Tyler operates under a council/manager form of government with a mayor
elected at large and siz member district councils. Smith County operates
under a Commissioner/County Judge form of goverment.
PROPERTY TAXES
It is mandatory that all residents list both personal and real property
for taxation by the County and/or City in which they reside. Tax collection
offices are located in the County treasurers office. Contact the Smith
