Name: Hispanic Heritage Month: Mexican Folk Art
    Date: September 22, 2016 - September 30, 2016
    Event Description:
The Tyler Museum of Art and Hispanic Professionals Association of Tyler are teaming up for a special week long exhibition showcasing some of the signature pieces from the TMA’s vast collection of Mexican folk art, as part of the local community’s celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month. The exhibition will feature a display of more than 30 works drawn from the TMA’s Laura and Dan Boeckman Collection of Mexican Folk Art from Thursday, Sept. 22 through Sept. 30 in the lobby of Regions Bank’s downtown branch at 100 E. Ferguson St. in Tyler. Admission is free to the public during regular bank hours of 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday. The community is invited to celebrate the exhibition’s opening with a reception from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Sept. 22 in the Regions lobby. Artwork selections represent seven states of Mexico, and highlight the ingenious use of everyday materials from which artists and artisans create memorable works of art that celebrate both the vibrancy of life and reverence for the deceased that pervades many Mexican cultures.
