The mission of the Tyler Area Chamber of Commerce is to improve the business environment in order to promote the economic well-being and quality of life for all citizens in Tyler and Smith County. Listed below are the 2011-2012 committees of the Tyler Area Chamber of Commerce and Tyler Convention & Visitors Bureau charged with accomplishing your Chambers mission.

AREA DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL (CHAIRMAN: DAWN FRANKS)

AVIATION COMMITTEE

Aggressively promotes the improvement, maintenance and expansion of transportation.

GOVERNMENTAL AFFAIRS COMMITTEE
CHAIRMAN: BOB WESTBROOK
Work closely with governmental officials to achieve the mission, goals and objectives of the Chamber.

SURFACE TRANSPORTATION COMMITTEE
CHAIRMAN: TAB BEALL
Aggressively promote the improvement, maintenance and expansion of ground transportation.

ENERGY COMMITTEE
CHAIRMAN: ERNIE LAFLURE
Promote the growth of the oil and gas sector.

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL (CHAIRMAN: ROSEMARY JONES)

EDUCATION AND HUMAN RESOURCES COMMITTEE
CHAIRMAN: RICHARD "MAC" GRIFFITH
Supports the development of quality education and training opportunities in our area

MEDICAL COMMITTEE
CHAIRMAN: GEORGE ROBERTS
Promotes and supports the medical industry in Tyler/Smith County.

SENIOR RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE
CHAIRMAN: DEBBIE ISHAM
Develops a marketing plan to attract retirees and utilize the talents of retired citizens in Smith County to carry out the mission of the Chamber.

TECHNOLOGY COMMITTEE
CHAIRMAN: TOMMY MARTIN
Addresses the growth of technology, telecommunications, and biotechnology in the Tyler area.

Assists new and growing Hispanic businesses with planning and growth strategies.

CONVENTIONS AND VISITORS BUREAU (CHAIRMAN: HOWARD PATTERSON)

TOURISM COMMITTEE

Attracts tourists by sponsoring and encouraging new events in Tyler/Smith County.

SPORTYLER COMMITTEE
